I know! I've noticed it too. Hey, is there a way to edit this thread and put a smiley face just to confuzzle people? I can never even use that smiley anymore because it's been tarnished and stained.

One way another forum prevents spam is to password protect the forum – they don't prevent registrations from anyone and the password is clearly visible in the dialogue box that comes up. Maybe that would be a way to help? I'll try to get a screen grab of it as I'm not sure my explanation is that clear…
The as promised screen shot:

I hope this makes things clearer!
Yup. I'm still confused with what you said, sorry.
So, how are we gonna stop spammers from registering, I mean ANYONE can register, the only thing we can really do is, inform the mods and they can delete the posts, AND for us not to leave messages on them.

Any spammer can register, I guess it's just up to us to keep an eye on it. And let's not reply to any threads started by those vicious spammers! This is the place to vent when you see spam.

Yeah, we really do have to keep a look out for stupid spammers that have nothing else to do but post porn links. (lol) Anyways.
Spammers should be flushed in the crapper!

I agree! They aren't even good porn links!!! … I mean. uh. yeah. So. How's it going?
haha.
I haven't seen them that often, so either we already have a decent defense system(and by defense system I mean running to JJust) or the boards are hidden well(as compared to the JC, where everything is either spam or little kids who like to refer to Tim as "The Bald Guy" because they refuse to learn his name). It's definitely not as bad as some other boards I've been an Admin/OP of, those had more spam threads than regular posts.

Well it would be applied at the very first step – before you even try to access a forum page. Mr. Mr. Mr. Jorge, Whom I Adore, Whom I Adore, Whom I Adore, I assume, would have to do it.
The password protection prevents worms looking for sites to deface using various exploits. At the height of the problem, and it was a big problem on that other forum I post to, they were getting probed several times a minute from infected machines which can cause server overload and bandwidth issues. It also has the added benefit of stopping search bots from spamming the forum with crap and email harvesters from looking for users email addresses.
Since the username and password are clearly stated in that dialogue box, and no one can get any further without filling it in, it prevents a lot of rubbish, and bad porn links as most spam is done automatically and they can't read that. In a way it's exactly the same as having to enter those verification numbers that look a litle wierd with little lines through (Turings?) – computers can't read them and so they are effective.
One thing must be said though – that board is run using phpBB software not Invision – althugh I would think it would work in the same way.

just a bump for when the spammers return one day
when spam comes up email the addy of the thread (the bit in your address bar i.e for this thread its "http://okgo.forumsunlimited.co…..") to:
Mr. Mr. Mr. Jorge, Whom I Adore, Whom I Adore, Whom I Adore@okgo.net
then Mr. Mr. Mr. Jorge, Whom I Adore, Whom I Adore, Whom I Adore ventures off and hunts them down
