I wonder what kind of dog they used to test this… my dog would have failed miserably wink.gif he is cute but extremely dumb.

Thanks for posting Rachel; today I feel the need to opine on stuff. smile.gif

Like us, our canine friends are able to form abstract concepts… dogs can classify complex color photographs and place them into categories

hmmm…maybe they're extrapolating a bit too much the results of this experiment. Every dog owner knows dogs recognize their peers by sight… even if it's a poster of a dog, dogs do know how other dogs are supposed to look like (just like us with other human beings…that's why it's so hard to create convincing animated human beings by computer). That doesn't mean however that dogs have the ability to form abstract concepts "like us"… call me when someone teaches algebra to a dog.

btw, dogs see in black and white… they recognize the shape of the dog pics but color isn't necessary… wasn't that like common knowledge or something?
