The title of this thread sounds like a great name for a band. Thought I'd share this story cause it's kind of interesting. The cult leader who convinced these people the world is ending in April is not even taking part in hiding int the bunker with his people. Moreover, he was arrested for mental illness. Amazing how pursuasive one person can be on a group of others.

Becky, I've actually seen UPC codes classified as "tools of the devil" in American Christian propaganda, so that wasn't even remotely surprising. Like, they hearken back to some mention of branding in the book of Revelations or something (sorry, I'm rusty on my Christian Theology).

I just googled for an explanation of this and stumbled upon a christian forum 
examples of output there:
-The number "666" is hidden in every UPC bar code!
-[The Apocalypse] is closer than everyone thinks. 99% of the UPC scan codes today have the "666" mark on them. That is 99% of everything we buy in stores has the mark of the beast if the mark is "666". There are 2 different kinds of UPC codes. One is the short one the other is the long one. The short one is on about 1% of store bought products, ex. Heinz ketchup, Marlboro cigarettes, and some other misc. products. The longer UPC code is on approx. the remaining 99%. Even potatoes and fruits are starting to bear a UPC code. The UPC code replaces numbers with lines. The lines are thick and thin and different combintaions are made up of these thick and thin lines, 2 lines per number. Well the lines representing 6 is two thin lines next to each other ll. Now if you look at the beginning of every long UPC code there is two very long ll, in the middle two ll, and the very end two long ll, "666" one in the beginning, one in the exact middle, and one in the end. With every other combinations of lines on the UPC code it has the cordinating number underneath, except for the first, middle, and last "666". Is this all just a coincidence or was it planned this way since the birth of the UPC code? Does it really matter? If the "666" is already on most all of the products that we buy today, won't "they" use the same system or UPC for marking people. The mark of the beast is already out there people, check it out for yourselves. Just open up your cupboards and look. Find a UPC with a 6 and look at the lines that represent that 6. Now aren't those the same lines at the beginning, the exact middle, and the end. Scary huh. Who really looks at the UPC code and who do you know that knows which lines represent which numbers, anyone. Probobly not, and nobody is really interested. "And he snuck into our lives like a serpent" not the exact wording, but I'm sure you catch my drift. If you have any thoughts or comments on this, e-mail or post. Once you see it for yourself, tell a friend, tell your church, spread the message. It is definitely a hard message to spread, nobody wants to hear it and if they do they blow it off, they don't care. People don't want to hear it, what are they going to do, quit going to the supermarket? Grow and hunt their own food, that's what the Bible tells us to do, run for the hills. I am really troubled by this, what if this is the mark, will it evolve into some sort of UPC codes in our hand or forehead, or will it just remain on the products. Is it time to take a stand and make some noise.

So just suppose that this WERE true – does this mean that Satan's helpers are the inventors of bar codes? LOL. You'd've thought that an evil genius like Satan would have enlisted the help of weapons engineers or something – someone with a little more bite.

i thought it was found that 606 is the number of the devil anyways, as someone translated somthing wrong

Ah yes, the moonies… sheesh… …this world is overflowing with crazy people alright. I'm beginning to think, if ever I seriously screw up in my career I'll become a preacher of some sort; I'll just tell a bunch of lies with emotion and if i do it often enough people will end up giving me their money.

Who's Ratboy?
Ratboy is someone I occasionally mention in passing. He is a real person. And it's a long story….I had an evil jerk of a teacher in college. We found out his son was in the year below us and he turned out to be the most obnoxiuos, cocky guy in the class. I started being nice to him cause he was the teacher's son. People thought a girl in his life might improve him and were hoping for a relationship. We became friends by passing around curiousness about whether we were a couple or not. He was way too immature and lame to ask me out, but I'd flirt anyway. I had no real interest in him. I just wanted the teacher to see we were friends. The teacher was a jerk and so was the son, so I felt no guilt. Weirder still, my mom had this jerk as a teacher 5 years before and jerk teacher was interested in her. (Um, yeah, going to a small college can lead to incest and weirdness.) Anyway, Ratboy became friends with me. As a jerk friend he's fun, but as a date, he was an ass. He tried to be a well behaved ass around me, but I know he was holding back and he would be a true ass if he could. He is Ratboy because he somewhat resembles a rat, esp when eating. Ratboy is into video games and the somewhat violent animes. To get attention (from classmates or family members), he'll brag that he is the devil or a vampire or both. He stays up till all ends of the night playing video games. He's basically a reclusive nerd who thinks he's the devil.
So anyway, back to thread….LOL, I agree, the fact that the cult is asking for a cow is both sad and amusing on so many levels. " border="0" alt="laugh.gif" />
