DRM-free EMI music outselling lockware
The Inquirer reports that in the short time since EMI went DRM-free with its music, its sales have skyrocketed:
Since EMI ditched the DRM on iTunes it has seen sales of Pink Floyd's Dark Side of the Moon increase by between 272 and 350 percent…
According to Bloomberg, digital sales for other DRM free music increased by between 17 to 24 per cent. OK Go's Oh No increased 77 per cent. Coldplay's A Rush Of Blood To The Head jumped 115 per cent.

OK Go, McClatchy
June 20th, 2007, filed by Robert MacMillan
McClatchy Chief Executive Gary Pruitt has a habit of backing up his presentations to the financial community with music, whether it be Aaron Copland’s Rodeo, Neil Young’s “Rockin’ in the Free World” or something by the New Radicals or Jimmy Eat World. The music plays over photos taken by photographers who work for McClatchy’s newspapers, Pruitt told us.
For Wednesday’s presentation to the Wall Street crowd at the Mid-Year Media Review in New York, the selection is “Here It Goes Again,” the song that the band OK Go made an instant hit with its video of the members running around on choreographed treadmills.
So why that song? Could it be the lyrics? Pruitt says no:
“I’m counting on people not being able to understand the lyrics. It’s more of just a spirit of the song as opposed to the words of the song because the words are not really relevant.”
Really?
Just when you think you’re in control,
just when you think you’ve got a hold,
just when you get on a roll,
here it goes, here it goes, here it goes again.
Now you know where financial analysts crib their investor notes to describe the newspaper business.

Blackstone's IPO: Top 5 Things Investors WANT to Know!
Posted By:Melissa Lee
On CNBC TV today, I have been talking about the top 5 things investors should know about the highly anticipated Blackstone IPO. (And, in case you're wondering, 5 was an arbitrary number.) Clearly, it was a very serious and informative piece of journalism.
Now, let's have some fun. Here are the top 5 things investors REALLY WANT to know about Blackstone's IPO. I don't have the answers to any of them unfortunately–but it's more fun to fantasize, isn't it?
Number One: What will the after-party be like?
At the very minimum, I would think there would be free-flowing stone crabs served by waiters without squeaky shoes. And a headline performer. Perhaps U2 (Beautiful Day)? OK Go (Invincible)? Kanye West (Gold Digger)?

Nice!

Here's an article and a short video of the guys talking with Congressman Lee Terry from Nebraska about low-power FM radio stations. Damian's wearing the shorts suit!

This isn't an OK Go article, but the boys are mentioned and it kind of blew my mind:

And this – WTF is this??? From the Modesto Bee:
Ummm, what happened to no more touring? This appears to have already verified availability (or at least claims to)…

Long shot here, but any fans from Long Island who still have yesterday's paper?

IN KIDSDAY
Today: Sixth-graders from Plainview-Old Bethpage Middle School interview the music group OK Go (they're the ones who did that great treadmill video "Here It Goes Again").
EDIT:
It looks like these Sunday articles are all available the following week online in PDF format so next Sunday, we'll be able to read it and see the pictures.
EDIT again:
Who am I kidding? I can't wait a week when I know there's an interview and at least one picture out there. The best I could manage to find was an abstract. Now I know that there will be a Tim & Andy picture waiting for us next week.
John Iorio's sixth-grade class, Plainview Old Bethpage Middle School, Plainview, Patrick Mullooly
[Tim Nordind]: That's another story from camp with [Damian Kulash]. We had kind of a crazy art teacher. He'd stand over us when we were drawing and give his weird wisdom. After giving the advice, he would say, "OK, OK, OK, go. " Even though we had been going forever. It was an inside joke.
Tim: I like playing "It Was a Good Idea at the Time" because [Rusty Ross] and I have some good synchronized moves. It's a good, groovy song.
PHOTOS – 1) [Alex Abreu] 2) [Ashley Cohen] 3) [Rebekah Masiakos] 4) Newsday Photo / Pat Mullooly – Kidsday reporters [EMILY ZAWATSKY], left, [ALEC SANG] and [CHRISTINA BILLIAS] meet Tim Nordind, left, and Andy R0ss of the band OK Go. 5) KIDSDAY ILLUSTRATION / [MOTTI ZARETSKY] – This sign means 'I love you." 6) KIDSDAY STAFF ARTIST / DEREK SIMON, MELVILLE – A family on a sailboat; 6) ILLUSTRATION – Kids exercising
haha, cute.
It seems like Tim & Rusty are teaming up for interviews now… not that I'm complaining
.
Maybe there's just way too many for Damian to do all of them….
or maybe they're just trying to cure Rusty of his interview-shyness…
either way, I likee =P can't wait for that article to surface!

Damn, now I have to go to Modesto!
(I hate Modesto; it's in the middle of NOWHERE.) Lety? Have you seen this????
P.S. I got an error message right after the guy said something like, "Let's sit down and go on record." Is there anything after that?
I think that's pretty much the end of that video. I wonder if there's another video of whatever went on record?

?!?!?!?!!?!!?!??!?!!!!
That's like down the street from me. Ok, so it's a little further than that, but I'm willing to go!
Maybe they're gonna come out of the studio to do special appearances.

Ah! I love Tim and Andy interviews. Andy sure has been coming along nicely on those interviews, he seems more at ease.
I likee too!
omigosh Melinda! I've been to Modesto maybe, 3 times in my lifetime. But my cousin goes there often to visit her grandparents. I hope they do come, being in the middle of nowhere whith OK Go sounds like a dream come true ![]()

OfflineJust the 'same old' stuff rehashed for their upcoming stint in Australia.
Okay, I felt like I should contribute in some way to this board!!
Oh and btw, I know this is super nitpicky of me, but does anyone else get annoyed at the lowercase Ok Go vs. the actual capitalized OK Go? No? Just me being a dork? Alright, moving on …

Thanks for the article, and YES, it bugs the living hell out of me. I'm a grammar/spelling Nazi.
12:06 pm
lol, I guess it would bug me if I wasn't so prone to do it myself. Mainly cuz the second album has all lower case and I didn't know the first album until long afterward. And now I write it without thinking, just mechanically converting something in no caps to something capitalized. I'm guessing it doesn't really matter though, cuz I remember seeing the youtube video of the real Tabatha giving Damian a drawing she made with the first album's design and he said something about "our old logo." I may totally be wrong here, but I interpret that as the first album's font, style and capitalization being completely different from the first one, as in it's not set in stone, so either "OK Go" or "ok go" would be correct…that would still technically mean "Ok Go" is off though, lol. But, I'm just itching to see what the third album's logo will be…"oK gO"….

Thanks for the article! And I don't think you're being a dork at all, I feel the same way about "Ok Go".
I agree with you Sally. I just got used to writing "OK Go" and thought that was the correct way. oK gO would seem like the logical next step…
