OfflineI'm looking forward to this album.
I got Hot Fuss out a few weeks ago for the first time in many months and was wowed all over again. It really is a great album.
It seems like a lot of people have been down on the Killers for a long time now. And it seems like it's just because they're famous and they're popular with teeny girls. It's too bad when bands become uncool for that reason. I'm glad the new album's got such a good buzz surrounding it.
One thing I was thinking about recently: I was remembering the Killers show I went to last May and how insane the audience was. All these Milwaukee teen girls pushing and shoving through the whole thing, apparently trying to get as close as humanly possible to Brandon Flowers. We were near the front and could not believe what it was like. Anyway, the talk in another thread wondering what kind of venues OK Go will play if they get big made me think, "Uh oh. What if it winds up like that Killers show???" With 800 rabid girls pushing and shoving to get closer to Damian. That would be horrid. [Once again, there needs to be an "icky" smiley on here.]
Btw, that show was great. They sounded fantastic live. I still remember thinking, "WOW" when they blasted off with "Midnight Show." And "All These Things That I've Done" … I LOVE THAT SONG. And it was great.

Don't get me wrong, I didn't stop liking them because they got big. I stopped liking them because the last time I saw them, it didn't seem like their hearts were in it. And i was terribly disappointed. They headlined a show after bloc party, the futureheads and the kaiser cheifs. They were really not as good as any of the bands who were on before them, and thats why I lost my passion for them. I don't think they're bad or anything, I just wont be running out to buy the album.

I used to like the Killers for a few weeks cause everyone on this board was raving like crazy about them and I had liked what I'd heard from them. But then I bought their album and realized that every song on it sounded the same so I gave it away.
Oh though I did really like the song "Midnight Show."

hehe, I'm the one of them, I love The Killers (my friend COMAKI manages an unofficial fan site). When they came to Japan, I caught all the shows except Tokyo.
However, I'm a bit worried about their upcoming stuff. The second album is a curse, you know what I mean. You guys call it a sophomore slump? Their new song "When You Were Young" sounds too complicated to me. In the song, I get no HOOKS that their songs used to have. Oh well, let's see…
I listened to the single they have on thier site… I'm not that into it… seems like Flowers is trying to play off his fake accent for the next album… And I like the fake accent… Meh, maybe its just me, I'll probably love it after a couple more listens.

Ah,okay, well,as a long time Killers fan (Or,whatever you'd consider being a fan since the June 2004 release),I'm really excited to hear the new album.I mean, the reviews they're getting are pretty sparkling(no pun intended, what with Brandon's rhinestoned synth and all) .I adore Bruce Springsteen,so the fact that they pulled influence from him (which is clearly noticable in "When You Were Young") is nothing but good news, but I know a few friends of mine who aren't too fond of the sound. However,I think they might just gain a bit more mature audience.I mean,my dad heard their new single and loved it.Given, this is the same dad who barely could sit through two of their concerts last year,he said they were trying to sound too British, and that most of the songs sounded the same. And,by the looks of it,that's all going to change with this album, thankfully.I'm really excited about them touring again,so my parents have the lovely task of driving me to atlantic city/manhattan for a few days yet again this October. But,hey,I couldn't be more proud of them and all their success, even though the teenie boppers get annoying. But,how about the "when you were young" video? It's a little…out there.I mean,I like it,but the intro's awfully long. It's very artsy, but so much to the point where it's almost like a short film with background music. And how about the fact that dave keuning looks like a younger Robert Plant? Have to love that.I haven't seen him go around shirtless since early, early killers days.Except that he wore silver blazers and blue scarves then, and 70s-esque vests now.Oh man,it's going to be really interesting, watching everything unfold. The release of the album, the beginning of the tour,it'll be great. ![]()
^^Elle is so happy right now. ![]()

Nope Mel I'm with you there.
Hot Fuss was awesome..but I think The Killers are loosing their awesomeness, as Flowers is loosing his fake accent. But, When You Were Young is kinda growing on me (as I hear it so much), and I'll probably overlook the whole faking-not-having-a-fake-accent thing.
